This week we will focus on using the voice.
It is always important to warm-up your voice before singing, so that you don’t give yourself a sore throat! Warming up your whole body is a good idea – it helps you relax your muscles and gives you the energy you need to sing your heart out.
A fun way to warm the voice is to make lots of silly sounds! Lip trills, oo’s and ahh’s at different pitches, making emergency services siren noises and so on are all fun and good for your voice. Always start quietly, and don’t sing too high or low straight away – build your voice gradually.
You can use the videos on these webpages for warm-up activities:

Can you say any tongue twisters? Have a go!
Examples of tongue twisters:
She sells sea shells on the sea shore.
Peter piper picked a peck of pickle peppers.
The blue bluebird blinks.
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear. Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair. Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't very fuzzy, was he?
Improvising with Beatboxing, Rap and Scat
If you’ve enjoyed making funny sounds with your voice to warm up, how about having a go at improvising some more sounds at words? Improvising is when you make the music up on the spot. Here are some videos that will teach you the basics:
